Nationally known speaker and columnist Christine Brennan is set to speak at the 2015 Economic Summit for Women, held in partnership with the Vision 2020 National Congress. Brennan will begin at 9:15 AM on Monday, October 26th at the Nashville Airport Marriot. She currently writes an award-winning national sports column for USA Today; is a commentator for ABC News, CNN, PBS NewsHour, and National Public Radio; and is a best-selling author and nationally-known speaker.
“This Summit will host a robust lineup of speakers and we are honored to have such an accomplished voice like Brennan’s to bring a motivational message to Tennessee women,” says TECW Chair Dena Wise.
Breaking glass ceilings, Brennan was the first woman sports writer at The Miami Herald in 1981 and became the first woman to cover Washington Redskins football team in 1985, as a staff writer at The Washington Post. She was the first president of the Association for Women in Sports Media (AWSM) and started a scholarship-internship program that has supported more than 130 female students over the past two decades. Brennan is the author of seven books. Her 1996 national best-seller, Inside Edge, was named one of the top 100 sports books of all-time by Sports Illustrated.
Due to her strong leading voice, Brennan has covered the most controversial and important issues in sports. “You can count on her to tell it like it is,” offers USA Today about Brennan’s integrity and insight as an author and columnist.
Brennan also won the U.S Sports Academy’s Ronald Reagan Award in 2002. In 2005 she was named Woman of the Year by WISE (Woman In Sports and Events).
